Exploring Birth Options Around New York

Our policy & research team recently returned from a week-long trip across the state gathering information for Choices in Childbirth’s upcoming report, Midwifery Matters in New York. The trip provided an informative peek into families’ birth options in and around Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.  In all, the team held 21 interviews and focus groups, where they heard from 113 people, including new parents, midwives, obstetricians and family practice physicians, nurses, doulas, childbirth educators, and others. The most rewarding part of the visit was connecting with passionate advocates around the state to strategize about the next steps in improving maternity care for all. We have come back energized and look forward to sharing the details through our report.

We appreciated the chance to connect with passionate advocates around the state to strategize about the next steps in improving maternity care for all. We have come back energized and look forward to sharing the details with you when the report is released in 2016.
